Greetings friends and family. As many of you know, Mike, Angie, and their family have experienced a challenging couple of years. Two years ago, Mike had emergency open heart surgery to replace two of his valves with mechanical valves. Things were sailing smoothly for a while. Then, just a few months ago, Mike had a heart attack. During his recovery, his cardiologist found a fistula that was not allowing his heart to pump blood through his body, and his valves were chewing up his red blood cells requiring him to have several blood transfusions. On Sept. 5th Mike had open heart surgery #2 to close the fistula. We are so grateful the surgery went well. Before the surgery, he developed a blood infection that will require long-term IV antibiotics. His recovery will require long-term therapy.
